ROOTS

In 1995 Charles Rossouw and his father, Chris, stumbled upon the opportunity to acquire a portion of the original Welgevonden farm outside Groblersdal. They started farming with grains and potatoes, but soon realized that Rosle is particularly suited to the production of quality citrus. Over time additional farms were bought and an aggressive citrus expansion program emerged. This was the start of the Rosle Group of Companies.

OUR TEAM

Without a capable and competent team, Rosle would not be able to execute its production and expansion programmes.

“My Team makes it possible for me to do what I do. I appreciate that, and therefore I look after them…”. “You are only as good as your people around you.” Charles Rossouw.

“My Team makes it possible for me to do what I do. I appreciate that, and therefore I look after them…”

– Charles Rossouw

DEPARTMENTS

Senior Management heavily relies on departments to diligently execute strategies and plans. Departments are the hands, eyes, and ears of senior management. All production outcomes depend heavily on these qualified individuals to execute company strategies and plans for expansion, production, harvesting, packing, and distribution.

Strategies and plans without the hands and feet to implement them will bring no food to the table. Rosle recognizes the efforts and input of all its employees.

Following a successful production season, the Citrus fruit is entrusted to Rosle’s own pack house, situated on the original farm, Welgevonden. In this modern packing and cold storage facility the fruit of a year’s labour is carefully placed into boxes, ready for export. Cartons of fresh fruit are annually exported to a global selection of markets.

BLUEBERRIES

BLUEBERRIES

Fresh Blueberries are fast becoming one of the most popular summer treats of all time. In order to broaden the harvest window of the group, the first planting of Blueberries was established on Rosle in 2016. Blueberries are sweet, succulent, full of nutrients, and can be eaten freshly picked, as well as incorporated into a variety of recipes. Blueberries, with its significant health and detox benefits, are experiencing rapidly growing global demand. Studies have suggested that increasing consumption of Blueberries decreases the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and overall mortality while promoting a healthy complexion and hair, increased energy, and overall lower weight.

Demand for Blueberries is outstripping supply on every continent as they are becoming more and more popular. This demand will require significantly greater supply in order to satisfy the bigger demand and growth markets, and will require innovation beyond the current supply chain.

With a harvest season following the main Citrus season this addition compliments the existing activities on Rosle. The Blueberries are almost exclusively aimed at the export market, and in particular the EU and forms part of the United Export Blueberry program.
